Our Silver Competitive group is meant for swimmers who are progressing well in the fundamentals of competitive swimming and are ready to take their training to the next level. In this group, there is a higher level of commitment to training, as swimmers start focusing more on their performance development.
Our Silver group will have the opportunity to participate in 5 – 8 sanctioned competitions throughout the season.
- Age 9+ (at the time of registration)
Practice:
- The season runs from late September to the end of June
- Silver: 1 to 1.5 hour swim practices (3 times per week)
As per Swimming Canada's LTAD plan for Stage 2 (Fundamentals) and progressing towards Stage 3 (Learn to Train), it is recommended that swimmers at this level practice at least 3 times per week.
Level Requirement(s):
Swimmers Age 12+ (at the time of registration)
- Are eligible provided they can swim all 4 strokes and dive off the block.
- Swimmers 12+ may also elect to register in the Silver Development group.
Swimmers Under 12 (at the time of registration) must meet at least two of the requirements listed below:
- Can swim a 50m Freestyle under 50s
- Can swim 4 x 50m Freestyle, holding a 1:10
- Can swim a 4 x 25 kick choice holding 50s
- Swimmer times within 15s of a 100m E-Fest Time Standard for any stroke
At the start of the level, swimmers should be able to:
- Swim Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly using proper stroke technique.
- Dive from the starting block, streamline off of walls and demonstrate different turns with proper technique.
- Understanding of how to read the pace clock and training sets
Level Goal(s):
By the end of this level, swimmers will have:
- Improved technique for Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly.
- Improved endurance and training habits leading to improved swimmer times.
- Competent with reading pace clocks and training sets.
